Govball NYC

This was my first year attending the Governor's Ball Music Festival in my hometown New York City and honestly I had such a great time. There is something so intriguing about the festival atmosphere in NYC mainly due to the fact that the festivals that have been more prevalent take place on the west coast or overseas, However, NYC and the east coast for that matter is beginning to play an extremely competitive role in the festival scene and I wouldn't say that I am upset about this. Honestly, who would complain about amazing artists being less than an hour's drive away from their home all at once? definitely not me.
This year's headliners included acts such as Drake, Deadmau5, The Black Keys, Florence & the Machine, and Lana Del Rey (aka my heart). Though I only attended for one day, it was quite clear to me that this year's festival had been quite a hit as it seemed through all of my social media accounts that the entirety of New York City was on Randall's Island for the weekend. I can undoubtedly say that my favorite part about attending was being able to change my opinion on artists or simply genres that I swore to myself that I did not like. Though I promised myself to never enjoy EDM, I found myself having a great time at the A-trak set and I was also lucky enough to have my ears blessed by the sounds of a relatively new Australian DJ duo named Hermitude - so amazing.
There is an odd sense of joy that comes from dancing in a 1 cm radius of sweaty strangers and bumping to the same music brought me a strange sense of solidarity that I can't quite describe. Though this festival made me tired and sore beyond belief, I am definitely ready for a 3 day experience next year. In fact, at this point, I think I am ready for anything.

Great pictures! Glad you had fun at Gov Ball. I've always wanted to go, hopefully I can in the near future! :) And I totally get your drift on EDM. I'm not really a fan of it, but with an abundance of great artists out there, it's hard not to like it! haha

DeleteAw i'm so jealous that you not only live in NYC but now even have your very own festival over there!! I visited NYC a few weeks ago for the first time ever and completely fell in love. This festival is just another reason to add to my list for having to go back ASAP!

Hey Nora! It's definitely a must for visiting again. What makes it so cool is that in some ways it doesn't really feel like you're in the city anymore but besides that the music is just awesome! Can't wait for next year's lineup.
DeleteWow! Firstly, I am so jealous that you live in NYC... like seriously that is pretty much on everyones bucket list! Just stumbled across your blog and I absolutely love it, you obviously have put in a lot of work and it really shows through your posts. I can't wait to read more! Not to mention I love your style- I've only just found your blog but it's obvious that you are really on top of the fashion trends. As for the music festival, I'm pretty sure I would die if I saw Florence and the Machine live, so good!
ReplyDeleteLoved the post girl, keep doing what you're doing! I'm definitely going to stick around and watch out for your next posts. Can't wait!
